About this place
The generous amount of vegetables on its lunch plates is one of Pinnata’s signatures. One visitor’s C set featured dishes such as hamburger steak with demi-glace sauce, fried prawns and chicken katsu, alongside a substantial salad. Another diner noted the variety of vegetables and colourful presentation. Lunch is said to change weekly, so there is a different main dish to choose from on each visit.
Another mainstay is Pinnata Rice, named after the café. The menu describes it as an original rice dish topped with bacon in a garlic-butter-and-soy-sauce style, plenty of vegetables and a fried egg; it can also be ordered without garlic. Choose this when you want a hearty rice dish, or the weekly lunch when you would rather sample a main and vegetables together.
The breakfast menu includes toast with a choice of butter or jam, as well as cinnamon toast, cheese toast, and an omelette-and-salad set. The hot dog set comes with pickles in a nostalgic curry-cabbage flavour. Some sets let you choose coffee, tea, milk, orange juice or tomato juice, making it easy to find something whether you want a light breakfast or a drink alongside your meal.
Pinnata is on the 2 floor of Yoshida Mansion in Nishimachi, serving meals from breakfast through lunch. Its listed opening hours are 8:00 to 16:00, and it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Payment is cash only, so come prepared.
